Power Ranking Number 29: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay last season drafted what they believe will be their franchise quarterback in Josh Freeman, and now he needs to show that he has the ability to be that. He started the final nine games of the season and he won three of those games, including back to back wins on the road against Seattle and New Orleans. The Buccaneers organization feels like the two rookie wide recivers that they drafted in Arrelious Benn and Mike Williams will really help Freeman in his development as a quarterback and they already have one of the league’s best tight ends in Kellen Winslow.

With the third overall pick in this year’s past NFL draft the Bucs draft defensive tackle Gerald McCoy to help their defensive line and then in the second round they drafted defensive tackle Brian Price and they are hoping that these two defensive tackle can be a great combo for years to come. Barrett Ruud is a great middle linebacker that can make plays all over the field but needs some help from the other linebackers.

In the secondary cornerback Ronde Barber is one of the all time great Buccaneers players and is a possible Hall of Fame player but he didn’t have an interception last season and the Bucs hope he can make more plays this season. One of the up and coming players in the Bucs secondary is cornerback Aqib Talib who last season had five interceptions and the Bucs expect him to be a possible Pro Bowl player in 2010.

The Bucs have a chance to do something but a lot of this seasons hope rest of the past two first round picks in quarterback Josh Freeman and defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.

  2. He will be better then last year, but I think he still needs a few more weapons around him, 2011 could be a break out season for him, but not this year.
