Power Ranking Number 30: Cleveland Browns

This team will go as far as quarterback Jake Delhomme will take them, can he be the player that lead the Panthers to the Super Bowl or will he be the player he was last season when he threw a ton of interceptions, that is the biggest question mark. Running back Jerome Harrison had a great end of the season last year, in the final three games he rushed for over 125 yards in all three of those games and against Kansas City he rushed for 286 yards and 3 touchdowns. He will team-up this season with rookie running back Montario Hardesty who is a bigger more physical running back then Harrison.

There wide receiver core has some question marks but I really like rookie Carlton Mitchell out of South Florida and think that he could be a real steal for them in this past draft. Second year wide receivers Mohamed Massaquoi and Brian Robiskie need to step it up and the Browns brought in veteran Bobby Engram to help them out with that.

On defense defensive linemen Shaun Rogers is there best player and he needs to show that week in and week out for the Browns defense to have a shot. Their first round pick Joe Haden should help out the secondary. The Browns need to find some players to rush the passer and hopeful in training camp they can find some diamonds in the ruff to be able to do that.

Team President Mike Holmgren still has a lot of work to do with this team to make it a consistent winner and there are some question marks about Eric Mangini job status so he needs the Browns to win this season or the Browns might be looking for a new head coach come the 2011 season.

Notes from Florida's Pro Day

Some updates from Florida's Pro Day – Check back for more updates. Update at 2:10pm EST. - Side Note - It was raining at the Pro Day so grass was wet when players where going thru drills.

Florida WR David Nelson at his Pro Day measure in at 6050, and 217 pounds ran the 40-yard dash in the 4.47 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.09 seconds, the 3 cone drill 6.76 seconds and the 60-yard shuttle in 11.28 seconds. He measured a 38-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-4.5 broad jump, and did 16 reps of 225 pounds.

Florida LB Brandon Spikes ran the 40-yard dash in the 5.02 to 5.08 second range.

Florida CB Joe Haden ran the 40-yard dash in 4.46 to 4.48 second range.

Florida QB Tim Tebow threw for scouts and did a good job throwing all the routes, but he doesn’t appear to have a lot of arm strength and hasn’t done a great job getting the ball pushed out to the outer thirds of the field.

Florida LB Dustin Doe at his Pro Day measure in at 6006, and 228 pounds ran the 40-yard dash in the 4.65 seconds. He measured a 35-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-1 broad jump, and did 20 reps of 225 pounds.

CB Joe Haden: 40 time really hurt him?

Most people either saw it on NFL Network or heard about it and that was one of the biggest stories coming out of the last day of the NFL Combine, cornerback Joe Haden of Florida ran a 4.57 and a 4.60, 40 yard dash. Scouts, General Managers, media, and football fans alike couldn’t believe it, most people expected him to run in the low 4.4, and now many people feel unless he comes back and runs that he will drop in the draft. But the real question should be, is Joe Haden the best cornerback in this years class, and the answer is yes. Is Joe Haden a first round talent, the answer is yes. Before the combine was Joe Haden a top ten talent, and the answer that some scouts will say is no. The NFL Combine and the test that the players do, allow scouts, and personal people to get a comparison on players at each position, but is it just a small part of their overall grade on a player.

Example the 2005 NFL Draft, there where 3 running backs that where looked at for the number one overall running back spot in the NFL Draft, Ronnie Brown of Auburn, Cadillac Williams of Auburn and Cedric Benson of Texas. When we went into the combine and everyone thought that these 3 players where all top 5 picks but didn’t know what order that they would go in, but when Ronnie Brown had a great combine and blew everyone away with his 40 yard dash, it was set and Ronnie Brown was going to be the first running back off the board.

So with no other prospect challenging Joe Haden for the number one cornerback spot in this years draft, his slow 40 time doesn’t really hurt him as much as people think. Now he will get a chance to run it again at Florida’s Pro Day and he hopes for a better time, but when Aprill 22nd comes around Joe Haden will still hear his name called in the 1st round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

Javier Arenas - Arenas struggled in some man to man coverage at the Senior Bowl, can he improve on his drills at the combine and will be run under a 4.5

Syd’Quan Thompson - Many people question Thompson speed, so the 40 will be hugh for him.

Walter Thurmond - Thurmond missed a lot of the season because of injury so the NFL Combine can help his stock.

Donovan Warren - Warren came out early and most think he will be a 2nd round pick.
