VanFulpen's Heisman Poll

1. QB Cameron Newton, Auburn - This season Newton has rushed for 860 yards and 12 touchdowns and threw for 1,278 yards and 13 touchdowns and only has thrown 5 interceptions. Auburn has been lead by him and hasn’t lost a game this season and go up against LSU this week which will be a good test for him and if Newton can lead Auburn to a win he will be looking more and more like he will be holding up the Heisman in New York.

2. RB LaMichael James, Oregon - This season James has rushed for 848 yards and 9 touchdowns and also has caught 3 passes for 96 yards and 1 touchdown. Oregon is the new number one ranked team in the country in the polls and they play on ESPN on Thursday night against UCLA it will give everyone in the country a chance to see James and how good he is.

3. QB Kellen Moore, Boise State - This season Moore has thrown for 1,567 yards and 16 touchdowns and only 1 interception. Moore is a very effective quarterback and has great skill guys around him, but it will be hard for him to win the Heisman as they don’t play in a great conference and they aren’t on national TV that often.

4. QB Terrelle Pryor, Ohio State - This season Pryor has thrown for 1,505 yards and 15 touchdowns and only throwing 4 interceptions, and he has also rushed for 410 yards and 3 touchdowns. He drop this past week because his team lost to Wisconsin and he didn’t play all that great, he needs to show that he can be the player that we have seen early in the season for the rest of the season and Ohio State can’t afford anymore losses.

5. QB Denard Robinson, Michigan - This season Robinson has rushed for 1,096 yards and 9 touchdowns and threw for 1,319 yards and 9 touchdowns but has also thrown 5 interceptions. He has been outstanding, but he had a rough game against Michigan State and Iowa and was unable to finish the Iowa game because of an arm injury.

Central Michigan Pro Day

Central Michigan QB Dan LeFevour stood on all his NFL Combine numbers but did throw the football and looked well in his scripted workout.

Central Michigan WR Antonio Brown measured in at his Pro Day at 5101 181 and ran the 40 yard dash in 4.48 seconds and then stood on all of his combine numbers.

Central Michigan WR Bryan Anderson at his Pro Day ran the 40 yard dash in 4.53 to 4.58 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.20 seconds, the 3- cone drill in 6.67 seconds. He measured a 37-inch vertical jump and did 12 reps of 225.

Central Michigan OL Allen Ollenburger at his Pro Day ran the 40 yard dash in 5.21 to 5.26 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.75 seconds, the 3- cone drill in 7.54 seconds. He measured a 26-inch vertical jump, a 8-foot-3 inch broad jump and did 21 reps of 225.

Central Michigan S Eric Fraser at his Pro Day ran the 40 yard dash in 4.60 to 4.62 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.17 seconds, the 3- cone drill in 7.06 seconds. He measured a 36.5-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-5 inch broad jump.

Central Michigan CB Josh Gordy at his Pro Day ran the 40 yard dash in 4.37 to 4.42 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.23 seconds, the 3- cone drill in 6.62 seconds. He measured a 38.5-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-10 inch broad jump and did 16 reps of 225.

Central Michigan CB Kirkston Edwards at his Pro Day ran the 40 yard dash in 4.48 to 4.56 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.47 seconds, the 3- cone drill in 7.06 seconds. He measured a 34.5-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-7 inch broad jump and did 12 reps of 225.

Central Michigan DE Larry Knight at his Pro Day ran the 40 yard dash in 4.77 to 4.84 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.61 seconds, the 3- cone drill in 7.08 seconds. He measured a 32.5-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot broad jump and did 20 reps of 225.

Central Michigan DE Frank Zombo at his Pro Day ran the 40 yard dash in 4.72 to 4.73 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.29 seconds, the 3- cone drill in 7.12 seconds. He measured a 35.5-inch vertical jump a 10-foot-2 inch broad jump and did 23 reps of 225.

Wayne State RB Joique Bell was at Central Michigan Pro Day and ran the 40 yard dash in 4.72 seconds and stood on all his other combine numbers. He caught passes from QB Dan LeFevour in the scripted workout.

Senior Bowl: Wednesday Notes

QB Dan LeFevour, Central Michigan: He has shown good athleticism and football and a strong arm he has been the most impressive quarterbacks overall so far at the Senior Bowl.

QB Sean Canfield, Oregon State: Doesn’t have the strongest arms, but has nice foot work and is a good overall athlete.

RB Legarrette Blount, Oregon: He has shown good down hill running ability, and more importantly he has answer the charter questions that the NFL teams have had. It has been a positive week so far for him.

WR Jacob Ford, Clemson: He has shown speed and quickness and done a good job running routes, and catching the football.

DT Jared Odrick, Penn State: Odrick has shown both power and quickness this week and done a good job in bull rushing, but also has shown good feet.

LB Daryl Washington, TCU: Washington has shown the speed, quickness and athleticism to make plays all over the field, some fell he might has moved himself up into the late first round.

QB Zac Robinson, Oklahoma State: Robinson senior year didn’t go as he would have liked it and really dropped down the draft boards of many teams but has had a great week of practice and has been the best quarterback on the South team.

RB Dexter McCluster, Mississippi: McCluster is very small framed player and many have questioned can he stay healthy in the NFL, but he has done a great job this week answer those questions. He has been impressive, not only running the football, but catching it and being able to run routes like a wide receiver.

RB Ben Tate, Auburn: Tate has done a good job overall, running the football, catching it and in pass protection I guy who has helped himself this week.

WR Riley Cooper, Florida: Cooper has dropped some catchable passes but has made some very impressive catches and just need to be more consistent with his hands, because he is a big receiver and shown the ability to be physical this week.

DT Dan Williams, Tennessee: There where questions about if Williams was a one year wonder, but this week he has shown good feet as well as good hands inside and has the ability to be a defensive tackle or nose tackle.

LB Darryl Sharpton, Miami: Sharpton is a little short at under 6 foot but has shown good athleticism and the ability to possible play outside linebacker as well as middle linebacker.

Draft Digest: Friday Night Football

Tonight we have the MAC Championship with Ohio vs. Central Michigan. The following players will be a factor in the 2010 NFL Draft.


QB Dan LeFevour, Central Michigan (SR)– One NFL Scout told me that they had LeFevour as their second overall senior quarterback. He has had an outstanding senior season and career for Central Michigan and will get a chance to go to an All-Star game and the NFL Combine where his true final grade will be found out. He is a very good athlete and also is an accurate passer, the question mark is his arm strength. I think when it all said and done he is a 3rd round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, with a good All-Star week showing and a good combine could move up into the 2nd round.


WR Bryan Anderson, Central Michigan (SR) – Like LeFevour Anderson has had an outstand career at Central Michigan. He is a big, physical receiver at 6-5 215 pounds, with good hands the question mark is his straight line speed and we will have to see what that is when we get a clock on him. If he can be in the low 4.5 rang he could be a 4th round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.


WR Taylor Price, Ohio (SR) Price has good size at 6-0 200 pounds, but has outstanding speed, and ran a 4.33 this spring. He does a nice job catching the ball and show the ability to get better at run this route which is something he needs to work on and not rely on his raw speed to get open. He looks right now like he is a 5th round pick.


CB Thad Turner, Ohio (SR) Turner is a good nickel or dime type corner for the next level he has decent speed and showed that in the spring running a 4.47 in the 40 and has alright size as well at 5-10 180 pounds. He needs to show better man to man cover skills and make more plays in the secondary, but he shows some ability and skills that could be coached up at the next level. He has a free-agent grade so far.

Draft Digest: Ohio State at Michigan

Players to Watch for 2010 NFL Draft:


DE Brandon Graham, Michigan (SR) - Player with a ton of talent on a bad team, could end up being a later 1st round pick or early 2nd round pick.


WR Greg Mathews, Michigan (SR) – He is a good size wide receiver with decent speed the past two season hasn’t put up huge number because of the inconsistency of the quarterback at Michigan. He could show something at an All-Star game and individual work out that could move his draft stock up but right now is a 7th round pick or free-agent.


LB Obi Ezeh, Michigan (JR) – Some have said that will leave early, but I expect him back at Michigan for his senior season next year. He is a good overall athlete and if does declare he would be a 4th round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.


CB Donovan Warren, Michigan (JR) - Warren most likely is gone from Ann Arbor and will declare of the 2010 NFL Draft. He has good size and he a good overall athlete, right now should be a 2nd or 3rd round pick.


DE Cameron Heyward, Ohio State (JR) – Powerful player who many think will leave early, possible 1st round pick.


DE Thaddeus Gibson, Ohio State (JR) – Most likely an outside linebacker in 3-4 defense, could leave early if did so would be a 2nd or 3rd round pick.


CB Chimdi Chekwa, Ohio State (JR) – Another junior who might take his game to the NFL after this season, good size cornerback. If could out would be a 3rd – 4th round pick.


S Kurt Coleman, Ohio State (SR) – A good athlete who can make plays in the secondary. Should end up being a 4th round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.


DT Doug Worthington, Ohio State (SR) – An athletic defensive tackle who could play defensive tackle in a 4-3 or has the ability to play defensive end in the 3-4. Should be a 6th round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.


S Anderson Russell, Ohio State (SR) – Not as good of an athlete as his running mate at safety Kurt Coleman, but still a good overall football player. Look for him to be a 7th round pick.

Draft Digest: Wednesday Night College Football

We have two MAC games tonight in Buffalo at Miami (OH) and
Central Michigan at Ball State. Players to keep your eye on for the 2010 NFL Draft:

Buffalo at Miami (OH):
WR Naaman Roosevelt, Buffalo - Roosevelt has decent size at around 6-0 190 pounds, but does a good job running routes and get in and out of his breaks. He is a player in the NFL that can play in the slot as well on the outside and will come in to the NFL as a number three receiver and could become a number two receiver down the road. Right now looks like he will be a 5th round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

S Mike Newton, Buffalo – Newton is an in the box type safety and has good speed and size at 5-11 200 pounds. This season so far has 71 tackles, a sack and an interception. He needs to get better in coverage, and should be a late round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft or will get signed as a free-agent.

***RB James Starks, Buffalo – Injured and hasn’t played this season but someone that will be getting a look from NFL Scout at Buffalo pro day if he doesn’t get invited to the NFL combine.

Central Michigan at Ball State:
