Power Ranking Number 5: New York Jets

The New York Jets who where one game away from the Super Bowl last season brought in a number of veteran players to help them be able to get to the Super Bowl this season and hopeful win it. On offense they traded for wide receiver Santonio Holmes who will miss the first four games of the season because of a league suspension because of off the field issues. They also traded for cornerback Antonio Cromartie and signed future Hall of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson as a free-agent as well as outside linebacker Jason Taylor. Second year quarterback Mark Sanchez is still the key to the offensive success and with the addition for Holmes and still having wide receiver Braylon Edwards and tight end Dustin Keller still on the roster will help his development. Running back Shonn Greene really come on in the playoffs last season and with the addition of Tomlinson is should aid in his development. Helping both Greene and Tomlinson is one of the better offensive lines in the NFL.

Cornerback Darrelle Revis is the best cornerback in the NFL and some think he might be the best defensive player in all of the NFL. He is a shut down corner with the ability to take away half the field and allows the defense to do many things with their blitz scheme. Getting nose tackle Kris Jenkins back from injury that cost him the final 10 games of the season and the post season will be a huge help to the Jets defense. Linebackers Bart Scott and David Harris are keys to the Jets defensive success and adding outside linebacker Jason Taylor should help the pass rusher.

Head Coach Rex Ryan made a very good impression with the Jets fans and organization in his rookie year as a NFL head coach, but needs to be able to follow it up with another great season in 2010. He has the talent on both sides of the ball but they key will be Sanchez having a good season and not having a sophomore slump.
